The new China Online Visa Application System launched officially at the Chinese Embassy in Tanzania on 31st March 2025. To further facilitate Chinese visa applications, this notice on the requirements and procedures for visas to China is hereby released.
I. Process of Visa Application
1. Visa applicants are required to log on to the New COVA System (click to redirect) to complete the application forms and upload required materials for preliminary review.
2. After the application form showing “Passport to be submitted” status, visa applicant should submit passport, application info-page and other original documents as required to the embassy within the office hours.

For applicants, it is generally appropriate to submit the online visa application about one month prior to the intended date of entry. After the application form showing “Passport to be submitted” status, visa applicant should submit passport to the embassy within the office hours.
Starting from the date the passport is submitted, the visa can be collected after 4 working days. If there is an urgent need, expedited processing may be requested, and the visa can be collected after 3 working days.
Please note :
The above processing time is for reference only. During peak visa application periods such as Christmas and New Year holidays, the waiting time for preliminary review may be longer than usual.
Some applications may require longer processing time, so a pick-up date cannot be confirmed until notified by the embassy.
The pick-up form provided by the staff of the Embassy will indicate the earliest estimated date for pick-up. Please check your online application status on or after that date. When the status shows “Passport to be collected”, you may come to the embassy for pick-up.
Please make sure that all the information on the visa is correct when picking up. If there is any inaccuracy, please tell the staff immediately in case inconvenience brought by the incorrect information.
