On July 21st，the Embassy of China in Tanzania hosted a reception to celebrate the 99th founding anniversary of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA). Chinese Ambassador H.E. Chen Mingjian, Honorable Dr. Rhimo Simeon Nyansaho, Minister for Defence and National Service of the United Republic of Tanzania, Lieutenant General Salum Haji Othman, Chief of Staff of Tanzania Peoples’ Defence Forces (TPDF), together with over 200 people, attended the event.

Ambassador Chen gave an introduction to H.E. General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech delivered at the gathering in celebration of the 105th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of China and stated that China will firmly promote the building of a community with a shared future for humanity, unswervingly pursue a defense policy that is defensive in nature, and resolutely deepen the friendship between China and Tanzania and between our two militaries.  

Senior Colonel Wang Haijun, Chinese Defence Attaché to Tanzania, shared the glorious history of the Long March, elaborated China’s important contribution to global peace, and reiterated the firm commitment to advancing cooperation between PLA and TPDF.

Honorable Minister Nyansaho sent the warmest congratulations to PLA, stated that Tanzanian side valued the brotherhood between TPDF and PLA, and committed to strengthening bilateral defence cooperation. 

The reception enjoyed warm and festive atmosphere, with Chinese military experts in Tanzania demonstrating combat skills and TPDF art troupe performing traditional dances.
