On 31 October 2019, Ambassador Wang Ke met with Hon. Innocent Bashungwa, Minister for Industry and Trade of Tanzania at the minister's office in Dar es Salaam.
Ambassador Wang said that the second China International Import Expo (CIIE), to be held in Shanghai, China from 5 to 10 November is an important measure taken by the Chinese Government to increase China's imports from the outside world, and that China welcomes the Tanzanian delegation headed by Hon. Innocent Bashungwa to attend the Expo. Ambassador Wang reiterated that China will take advantage of such platforms as the CIIE and China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo to increase its imports of specialties and quality products from Tanzania.
Hon. Innocent Bashungwa said he is pleased to have the opportunity to attend the 2nd CIIE on behalf of the Tanzanian Government, and believes Tanzania's participation in the 2nd CIIE will help the country expand exports to China. He also said that it is his hope that his visit to China could bring more Chinese investment to the country.
After the meeting, the minister was interviewed by China Central Television and Xinhua News Agency journalists.
