On May 28, Chinese Ambassador to Tanzania H.E. Chen Mingjian visited the African Liberation Movement Freedom Fighters Kongwa Camp and the CCM Kongwa District Office in Dodoma Region, accompanied by Minister Wang Yong and Counselor Xu Sujiang. District Party Chairman Musa Abdi, former National Assembly Speaker Job Ndugai, District Commissioner Mayeka Simon Mayeka, District Council Chairman White Zuberi, other CCM and government leaders were present throughout the trip.
The two sides reflected on China's contributions to Tanzania's independence and the national liberation of southern Africa, and agreed to strengthen historical sites protection and inheritance, promote inter-party and sub-national cooperation between the two countries, so as to continuously consolidate the foundation of China-Tanzania and China-Africa relations.
Tanzanian youth presented a boutique of flowers to Ambassador Chen, with local primary and secondary school students singing songs and dancing. Chairman Zuberi, who witnessed the national liberation movement, took her around the camp and recalled the glorious history of mutual support between China and Africa. The lively atmosphere touched the heart of everyone present.
The camp was built in 1964, where Namibia's founding President Sam Nujoma and Mozambique's founding President Samora Machel were trained.
