(November 4, 2011, New Africa Hotel)

Honorable Managing Director, Mr. Clement Mshana,

Mr.Lin Shaowen, Director of CRI Africa Headquarter

Distinguished guests and friends from media,

Ladies and gentlemen,

Good Morning.

It’s my great pleasure to meet all of you here. On behalf of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to Tanzania, and in my own name, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all the distinguished guests present here for your attention and concern for the dubbed TV series “Dou Dou Na Mama Wakwe Zake”, to Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation and China Radio International for their hard work in the past few months for dubbing this Chinese TV Series. Please also allow me to extend my appreciation to Ministry of Information, Youth, Culture and Sports for their support.

Though China and Tanzania are far apart geographically, our relations grow from strength to strength since we established our diplomatic relations in 1964. Mutual visits and exchanges in politics, economy and culture fields at various levels are more and more frequent, which, to some extent, has enhanced the mutual trust, understanding and friendship between our two nations and their people.

The cultural exchanges and cooperation between our two countries have also achieved fruitful results in recent years. The annual celebration “Focus on Africa, Chinese New Year in Tanzania” has been held twice successfully in Dar es Salaam; several exhibitions about China have been held in Dar es Salaam and in Dodoma and will hold in Zanzibar, which also attracted a lot of local audience and enriched their life; donations of acrobatic equipments to TaSUBA and Wushu equipments to Tanzania Wushu Association have helped promote the development of culture and sports.

According to Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Sharm El Sheikh Action Plan, 2011 is the year of “Chinese Culture in Focus” events in Africa. On till now, we have already started several activities: Chinese Government Cultural Delegation visit Tanzania2011“ Focus on Africa, Chinese New Year in Tanzania” celebration, the first Tanzania National Chinese-Wushu Competition, Book donation to Tanzania Central Library, several exhibitions and so on. Among them, dubbing TV series “Dou Dou Na Mama Wakwe Zake” is one of the most important events. It recounts a story about an ordinary Chinese family in a light and humorous way. It vividly presents some social issues arising along with the rapid growth of economy and changes taking place in the country’s social structure, such as dating between two single people who are beyond the normal marriage age, remarriages among middle-aged and senior citizens, and the relationship between a bride and her mother-in-law.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The launching ceremony of the TV series will take place on the evening of November 23, 2011 in the compound of TBC1. I hope it can bring you some pleasure and enjoyment, and you can learn more about modern China.

Here, I would like extend my thanks again to TBC and to those who have devoted all their efforts to this project and to the friendship between our two nations. I sincerely hope that Tanzanian culture will make greater progress. Wish the friendship between our two countries ever-lasting.

Thank you. (Asante Sana)
