July 1, 2011 Tanzanian National Central Library

Director-General Ali Mcharazo,

Ladies and gentlemen,

Good morning!

Today, we get together to hold a book-donation ceremony by Chinese Embassy to Tanzanian National Central Library. Taking this chance and on behalf of Chinese Embassy, I’d like to extend our warm welcome to our distinguished guests and readers.

Ladies and gentlemen,

China and Tanzania enjoys a profound friendship and are all-weather friends. Since Forum on China-Africa Forum Beijing Summit, the exchange and cooperation in cultural field between China and Tanzania has kept expanding. According to Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Sharm El Sheikh Action Plan, 2011 is the year of “Chinese Culture in Focus” events in Africa. The 2011 events in Tanzania mainly comprise “ Focus on Africa, Chinese Spring Festival in Tanzania” celebrations, a series of Chinese cultural exhibitions and performance activities , and a TV broadcasting of the Kiswahili Chinese TV series on a Tanzanian TV station. These events will surely further the bilateral cooperation between China and Tanzania.

Ladies and gentlemen,

Being a carrier of knowledge, books are a ladder of the progress of human beings. The donated 502 books, a real-life small-size mobile library of Chinese culture, cover Chinese history, philosophy, politics, science & technology, culture, education, Chinese language and contemporary China. As a showcase for profound Chinese culture, these books present well-selected profiles of Chinese culture in a vivid, fascinating and understandable manner, and could be said of a bridge and friendship emissary to promote the understanding between the two peoples. I do wish these books could help Tanzanian readers learn more about China and understand more about the friendship of Chinese people towards Tanzanian people, bringing the bilateral cooperation forward to a higher level.

Thank you!
