(June 10, 2011, Dodoma Regional Library)

Honorable Regional Commissioner of Dodoma, Dr. James Msekela,

Distinguished guests,

Ladies and gentlemen,

Good Morning.

It’s my great pleasure to have you gathering in such a beautiful place to celebrate the opening ceremony of this photo exhibition. Dodoma is a very beautiful city and the legislative capital of Tanzania. This week, the Tanzanian parliament has started the third session since last October’s successful general election. The parliament is debating and will pass through the budget of next fiscal year, which is vital to the national economy and social development. Dodoma is a city of energy and booming economy. The University of Dodoma, with a large population of students, is one of the most important universities in the country and is developing very fast. Many Chinese companies have made great contributions to the establishment and development of the university. I sincerely congratulate what you have achieved in the past and wish you a bright future. On behalf of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to Tanzania, and in my own name, I would like to extend our sincere thanks to all the distinguished guests present here.

Although there is a huge geographical distance between China and Tanzania, the cultural exchanges and cooperation started from the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1964 has achieved fruitful results. The traditional friendship between China and Tanzania has been maintained very well through frequent exchanges and cooperation in culture, education and other fields.

This photo exhibition is made up of two parts. The first part is “Henan in the Eyes of World Photographers”, which was selected from 10,000 pictures shot by talented photographers from all over the world and was exhibited in Canada, the United States, Hong Kong and various provinces in mainland China. Last August, this exhibition was held in Dar es Salaam and it was the first time for the pictures to be brought to African continent. And it was very popular among Dar’s residents and foreign visitors. The second part is “Rediscover China” which tells you about China’s long history brilliant culture, developing current situation and harmonious society. I hope this exhibition can enrich local people’s culture life and give you a new vision about china.

I remembered that we held the photo exhibition of Beijing Olympic Games in 2008 right here, in Dodoma Regional Library and that cooperation was a great success. So I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to Dodoma Regional Library for its cooperation and providing this exhibition venue. I belileve the photo exhibition will bring you some pleasure and enjoyment.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Here, I would like to donate two computers, one TV set and one DVD player to Dodoma Regional Library. I sincerely hope that Tanzanian culture and education will make greater progress and that the friendship and cooperation will be further strengthened with the joint effort from our two great countries and the two peoples.

Thank you. (Asante Sana)
