By Mr. Jijun Fu, Deputy Mission Chief and Political Counselor of Chinese Embassy to Tanzania on 12th March, 2009

Honorable Mr. William Lukuvi, Regional Commissioner of Dar es Salaam,

Respected Mr. Zhu Jinfeng, Chairman of Chinese Business Chamber of Tanzania,

Distinguished Guests,

Ladies and Gentlemen:

Good morning!

It is a great pleasure for me to attend the donation ceremony of Chinese Business Chamber of Tanzania to Iringa Region through Honorable Mr. Lukuvi, Parliament Member of Iringa Region. I hope this donation will contribute a little bit to the great efforts of Ismani Constituency of Iringa Region in reducing the poverty.

China and Tanzania are all-weather friends. The friendship between our two countries has been initiated and carefully nurtured by the four generations of our great leaders, namely late Chairman Mao Zedong, Mr. Deng Xiaoping, President Jiang Zeming and President Hu Jintao from China and Mwalimu Nereyer, President Muwiyni, President Mkapa and President Kikwete from Tanzania.

As developing countries, China and Tanzania are now facing similar tasks to develop our economy and improve the living standard of our people. We appreciate very much that the fourth phase Tanzanian government, under the leadership of H.E. President Jakaya Kikwete, has been working very hard for a more and more prosperous Tanzania.

We are proud of that China has always been a close partner of Tanzania in its great efforts to reach its glorious mission. Chinese government is helping Tanzanian government in its efforts through building big projects such as National Stadium, Nyerere International Conference Center, Cardiac Surgery Clinic and Agricultural Technology Demonstration Center. Besides these big projects, Chinese government and the Embassy have always been encouraging the Chinese businessmen in Tanzania to feed back Tanzanian society through extend helping hands.

On the occasion of celebrating Chinese Lunar New Year on February 14, three Chinese companies donated some solar cookers, hand-pressure water pumps and anti-malaria drug which are worth more than 150 million Tanzanian shillings to WAMA foundation. On March 29, the Embassy and two Chinese Business Chambers donated 80 bicycles, 50 sewing machines, 35 TV sets, 1500 footballs, 1500 radio sets, 1650 square meters of iron piva and 5 wing power generators which are worth 260 million Tanzanian shillings to Tanzanian people through the State House. Today, Chinese Business Chamber of Tanzania donates 25 bicycles and 25 sewing machines at around 8 million shillings to Ismani Constituency. These donations have fully proved that the Chinese community in Tanzania is a close partner of Tanzanian government and its people in their efforts furthering the economic development.

Honorable regional commissioner,

Ladies and Gentlemen:

The Chinese Business Chamber of Tanzania is one of the largest Chinese Chamber in Tanzania. It has more than 100 active entrepreneur members who are engaging the manufacturing, trade and service industry in Tanzania. They have invested over US $150 million in Tanzania and employed more than 5000 Tanzanian employee. They are using the most advanced technologies, management skills and good quality products to serve Tanzania people. Just as Mama Salma Kikwete had said on behalf of President Kikwete, the Chinese community has been an alienable part of Tanzania economy. They have been making great contribution to the Tanzania development. So that I have the honor to appeal the Tanzanian authorities to do its part to protect the legal rights of Chinese businessmen and help them to expand their business and make more and more contributions to Tanzania.

In conclusion, I would like, on behalf of the Chinese Embassy, to express our highly appreciation to Honorable Mr. Lukuvi, for his personal contribution to create a good investment environment for businessman in Dar es Salaam Region and the mutual beneficial cooperation between China and Tanzania at large. I would also like to assure you that the Embassy will continue to do its best to serve the need of Tanzanian people and Chinese Community in Tanzania.

Thank you for your attention!
